How We Teach Our GCSE Economics Students

GCSE Economics lessons at More Than Just Tuition are tailored to your child's learning style. We take a structured yet flexible approach, setting clear goals while adapting to what your child needs each week.

Structured Support, Personalised Learning

The first lesson assesses your child's ability, responsiveness to learning techniques, and current curriculum.

Embedding Knowledge & Building Confidence

We actively work to reinforce key foundational concepts, allowing students to gain a comprehensive understanding.

Weekly lessons integrate previous learnings to improve content retrieval, because mastery comes from repetition and application, not cramming the night before!

Active Exam Techniques

We teach exam technique alongside content: how to structure answers, draw accurate diagrams, and apply theory effectively.

Revision strategies are provided to ensure students feel prepared and confident.

Which Exam Boards Do We Teach For Economics? All of Them!

We cater to students learning on a diverse range of GCSE and A Level, UK and international-focused exam boards. Our online tutors are aware of the differences in specification material and will endeavour to teach exam skills in the context of the students' specific assessor.

What Your Child Will Learn From Our GCSE Economics Tutoring

At MTJT, we teach GCSE Economics with the intention that students progress to A-Level. For this reason, we go beyond the textbook, helping students contextualise content and prepare for future study, whether they choose to pursue it or not.

We won't add additional content to your child's workload. Instead, we teach GCSE content at greater depth, integrating real-world context seamlessly, because understanding how to apply theory in exams is what really counts.

Core GCSE Topics Covered

1. Microeconomics: for all GCSE exam boards.
2. Macroeconomics: for all A Level exam boards.
3. Exam skills: Diagram technique, essay structure, and evaluation.

Beyond the Specification

Students learn complementary content that extends their understanding beyond the exam board, contextualising theory through real-world examples and preparing them for A-Level concepts.

Results

Students who complete GCSE Economics with MTJT find A-Level Economics easier to grasp, even if they don't pursue it, because we've built a foundational understanding at a deeper level.

Success Story of Anaya A-Level Economics Student

Anaya began her A-Levels feeling overwhelmed by the breadth of the Economics specification. She understood topics individually, but couldn't connect them, making essays feel fragmented and limiting her to B/C grades. Across two years of tailored support, she first built strong conceptual foundations in Year 12, then refined her exam technique and essay writing in Year 13.

The result: an A* in A-Level Economics, a two-grade improvement built on sustained, personalised tutoring that addressed both understanding and application.

Success Story of Ben A-Level Economics Student

Ben started his A-Levels averaging C and D grades in Economics. He knew the content, but struggled to translate it into high-scoring exam answers, particularly when it came to essay structure and building clear chains of analysis. Through weekly sessions focused on exam technique, structured essay planning, and analysing model answers, Ben developed both deeper subject understanding and a disciplined approach to writing.

By the end of his AS Levels, he was achieving A* grades on essays, a four-grade improvement that transformed both his results and his confidence.

Asha Wadley, Founder of More Than Just Tuition, sits in a blue suit before a bookcase filled with books.

Hi, I'm Asha Wadley, Your Online Economics Tutor

I started More Than Just Tuition because students deserve more than just being taught the syllabus. After five years and over 2000 hours of teaching across the EMEA region, with every 2024 student achieving A grades or above, I realised my approach needed to reach more students.

Having achieved AAA* at A-Level (including Economics) and currently studying for a First Class degree in Economics and Development at the University of Manchester, I understand what it takes to excel academically.

But I also know education isn't just about exams & academics, it's about preparing for adulthood. By 22, I'd worked at a global bank, a cryptocurrency startup, an NGO in Uganda, and the University of Manchester itself. Now, I use that experience to help students progress beyond learning towards life.
