Success Story of Amari GCSE Economics Student

Amari came to More Than Just Tuition in his final GCSE year averaging a grade 4/5 in Economics. Six weeks later, he sat a mock exam and achieved a grade 9, a remarkable four-grade improvement. Through focused weekly sessions combining past paper practice with targeted content review, Amari rebuilt both his understanding and his exam confidence.

His parent praised Asha's ability to make complex concepts accessible, her patience, and her genuine investment in his progress.

The Challenges Amari Was Facing With Economics

Amari came to More Than Just Tuition in his final year of GCSE's, looking for support to increase his Economics grade from a 4/5. In the consultation, he discussed the issues he was facing, which included; difficulty in understanding past papers for GCSE Economics, exam structure, and comprehension of some of the topics he'd been taught.

How We Helped Through Online Economics Tutoring

Our solution was to provide Amari with an hour and a half lesson every week for six weeks that focused on practicing past papers and reviewing weaker areas of understanding. Every lesson involved going through past papers, which included questions on the topics that Amari was struggling with. We would also dedicate a small portion of time each session to talk through the content he was being taught in school and correct any misunderstandings.

The Results Amari Achieved

Amari had a mock exam at school around 6 weeks from the starting with More Than Just Tuition and managed to achieve a 9 in the mock exam - 4 grades of improvement.

What Amari Had to Say

Asha has been an incredibly helpful and supportive tutor for my son as he worked through his GCSE Economics studies. Her ability to clearly explain key concepts and make complex ideas more understandable had a real impact on his confidence and progress. Each session was insightful and well-paced, and my son always felt comfortable asking questions and engaging with the material thanks to Asha’s calm and patient approach.

What also stood out was Asha’s flexibility and understanding when we needed to reschedule sessions due to other commitments. She was always accommodating and worked with us to find suitable alternatives, which made a big difference during a busy and sometimes stressful period.

Overall, Asha’s knowledge, patience, and adaptability made her an excellent tutor, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for Economics support at GCSE level. I look forward to results day!!! Thank you Asha :-)

Hi, I'm Asha Wadley, Founder & CEO of More Than Just Tuition

I started More Than Just Tuition because students deserve more than just being taught the syllabus. After five years and over 2000 hours of teaching across the EMEA region, with every 2024 student achieving A grades or above, I realised my approach needed to reach more students.

Having achieved AAA* at A-Level (including Economics) and currently studying for a First Class degree in Economics and Development at the University of Manchester, I understand what it takes to excel academically.

But I also know education isn't just about exams & academics, it's about preparing for adulthood. By 22, I'd worked at a global bank, a cryptocurrency startup, an NGO in Uganda, and the University of Manchester itself. Now, I use that experience to help students progress beyond learning towards life.
