More Than Just Tuition Safeguarding Policy

1. Purpose
More Than Just Tuition ("the Company", "we", "us") is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and positive environment for all students. This Safeguarding Policy sets out how we protect the welfare of children and vulnerable individuals who use our online tutoring services.
This policy applies to all Tutors, staff, Clients, and Students.
2. Our Commitment
We will:
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all Students is our primary concern.
Promote online safeguarding best practice in all our sessions.
Maintain professional boundaries in all interactions.
Respond promptly to any safeguarding concerns or disclosures.
3. Scope
This policy covers:
Online tutoring sessions delivered via third-party platforms (e.g., Zoom).
All communications with Students, including email, messaging, and video calls.
Tutors and staff acting on behalf of More Than Just Tuition.
It applies to Students under 18 and any vulnerable adults in our care.
4. Tutor Requirements
All Tutors providing services through More Than Just Tuition:
Are independent contractors but must comply with safeguarding requirements.
Hold an enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
Have up-to-date safeguarding training.
Are trained to recognise and report any safeguarding concerns.
Must maintain professional boundaries at all times and avoid personal or inappropriate contact with Students outside of scheduled sessions.
5. Safe Online Environment
To ensure student safety:
Tutors and Students must use secure, password-protected platforms for sessions.
Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian present at home during online lessons.
Cameras should remain on during sessions wherever possible.
Students should be appropriately dressed, and sessions must take place in a communal area of the home.
Tutors will avoid private messaging on personal accounts; all communications should go through company channels.
6. Reporting Concerns
All safeguarding concerns, including potential abuse or neglect, must be reported immediately:
Internally, to the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) at More Than Just Tuition.
Externally, to the local child protection services or relevant authority if necessary.

All reports are treated confidentially, recorded securely, and escalated appropriately.
7. Handling Disclosures
If a Student discloses information suggesting risk of harm:
Listen carefully and calmly.
Do not promise confidentiality.
Record the details accurately and immediately.
Report to the Designated Safeguarding Officer as soon as possible.
Tutors must never investigate or confront the alleged abuser.
8. Parental Responsibility
Parents or legal guardians remain responsible for the Student's wellbeing outside of scheduled lessons.
We encourage open communication with parents regarding safeguarding procedures and any concerns that arise during tutoring.
9. Training and Review
All Tutors undergo safeguarding training before starting work.
Training is refreshed anually.
This policy is reviewed at least annually or sooner if legal or procedural changes occur.

This policy is publicly available on the More Than Just Tuition website and will be provided to parents/guardians upon request.
